Psychologist + Intuitive + Teacher + Writer + Mystic + Artist: this blog and myself have been through so many reincarnations, I’ve lost count.
What started out in 2012 as a personal blog, and a way to process my experiences of finding myself again after a painful divorce (ie. finding “sunshine” in “winter”), eventually evolved into a smorgasbord of poetry, prose, and personal reflections centering around life wisdom, heart wisdom, and the natural world.
In 2016, my world was rocked by the sudden loss of my brother, and Sunshine In Winter once again came through as a space for me to write about grief. Several books eventually poured out of that season, including several poetry books containing collections of my work, as well as a grief book. Writing gave me a home at a time where I could find no other solace; books became word scrapbooks to help me remember my own becoming and share those very human experiences with others.
At present, life evolved once more, and my brother’s loss became the catalyst that moved me from Alaska to Kauai. For my official site, you can find me at bethannekw.com where I share my books, ecourses, work, and personal reflections. I’ve kept this space open out of fondness and nostalgia: these days I mostly share poetry (and a bit of occasional prose) on Sunshine In Winter inspired by life, spirit, change, and the beauty of Kauai.
