She is a mystery:
the sea.

Unfathomable in reach;
incomprehensible in belief;
her darkest depths hold
secrets that yet no eyes
have seen.

She’ll sing you a
song in the morning;
a lullaby with noon’s
gentle tide;
then bid you to sleep
with a ballad of waves
to the rhythm of
full moon’s light.

She’ll take your
secrets in her stead;
hold them in
her keep-
and still her flows
will come and go;
wash your lines
into her sweep
…until you forget
where you end
and she begins…

She is a mystery,
the sea.
